Dorset Bed & Breakfast

West Compton Manor is a country house bed and breakfast in Dorset.  Situated between Bridport and Dorchester, we could be described as a rural bed and breakfast as we're surrounded by stunning countryside, but are in fact only moments from the A35 and wonderful tourist attractions such as the beaches of Burton Bradstock and West Bay.

We have a selection of rooms available and can cater for most needs, including those of any four legged friends, as we are a pet friendly bed and breakfast.

Bed and Breakfast Rooms

All bedrooms are a comfortable size, with bed sizes ranging from king size to singles depending on your requirements and decoration could be described as shabby chic.  Bathroom facilities vary so please state your preference when booking.

The Balcony Room                                                                                                 This is our largest double bedroom furnished with a wonderfuly comfortable soft antique brass bed and other beautiful antique pieces.  There is a sitting area with a two seater sofabed and coffee table providing a place for you to relax.  Alternatively you can sit on the balcony where there are four chairs and a table.  The sofa bed is suitable for 2 small children to share, or one adult and when folded out the dimensions of the mattress is: 118cm x 188cm (3'10" x 6'2").  This bedroom is available with a private or shared bathroom. 

The Green Room                                                                                                 This pretty twin room is newly decorated and furnished with antique pieces. Looking out onto the courtyard, it is large enough for two adults to share comfortably.  Offered with a shared or private bathroom.   

The Rose Room Suite                                                                                           This private suite is comprised of the Rose Room, a small sitting area with tea and coffee facilities and a spacious bathroom.  The Rose room is furnished with a comfortable kingsize bed and other pine pieces, the room is light and bright and has a view on to the courtyard. 

The Rose Room Family Suite                                                                                The near single bedroom can also be incorporated into the Rose Room Suite, making it suitable for a family of three, with its own bathroom and sitting area.  

The Rose Room                                                                                                    The Rose Room is also available without the private sitting area and with a shared or private bathroom.

Single Bedrooms                                                                                                   We have two single bedrooms, refered to as the near and far singles, each furnished with a small chest of draws, mirror, bedside lamp and clothes hanging on the back of the door.  Both bedrooms are offered with a shared or private bathroom.

Pet Friendly Bed and Breakfast

We provide pet friendly accommodation and are happy to accept well behaved four legged visitors as long as they are house trained and used to being in a home environment.  We have two cats and will ask you to keep your dogs on a lead, as the cats don't appreciate being chased in their own home!

Full English or Continental Breakfast

Breakfast is served in the dining room or kitchen between 8am and 9am, but can be earlier or later if you let us know your requirements in advance.  We offer you a choice of a continental or full English breakfast.  All of the ingredients are sourced locally and most of the fruit and vegetables are homegrown.  The eggs come from our own chickens, the bread, jam and marmalade are all homemade.  The meat is from a selection of local free range farms and the fish is landed locally at West Bay.

• Bridport smoked kippers with freshy laid scrambled eggs.
• Toasted crumpets with melted butter and homemade jam or marmalade.
• Freshly laid poached eggs and Dorset free range bacon on home baked toast.                                                                                                                                            
• Wild Scottish smoked salmon and freshly laid poached egg on a muffin and smothered in homemade Hollandaise sauce.
• Warmed croissant with homemade marmalade or jam.  
• Dorset free range sausages with grilled tomatoes, buttery mushrooms and freshly laid fried egg.
• Freshly laid Eggs Benedict with Dorset free range bacon smothered in homemade Hollandaise Sauce
• Wild Scottish smoked salmon with freshly laid scrambled eggs on home baked toast.              
• Warmed Pain au Chocolate.

All served with fresh orange juice and fresh coffee or tea of your choice.

Bed and Breakfast Prices

Prices start from £38 per night for a single room and £48 per night for a double room, including breakfast.

Dorset Tourist Attractions

Staying in a Dorset bed and breakfast can be lots of fun, as there literally hundreds of tourist attractions in Dorset, ranging from local craft fairs and farmers markets, to the wonderful Terracotta Warriors Museum.  Some ideas of things to do in the local area are listed on the home page, alternatively you could try the Best of Dorset Attractions website.

West Compton Manor bed and breakfast is conveniently located just off the A35 and towns such as Bridport, Dorchester, Beaminster, Crewkerne, Cattistock, Cerne Abbas and Sydling St Nicholas are easy to get to.  We may be a Dorset bed and breakfast, but Somerset and Devon are also with in 30 to 40 minute drive.
