Anyone for Croquet!

We had great fun last week playing croquet on the front lawn.  There was lots of cheating with rules being made up as the game progressed and Taff assisted by retreiving stray balls from the undergrowth.  The croquet set will be available to all guests who wish to play and assistance is on hand if a description of the game is required.

Beaminster School Activity Day

A group of three lads from Beaminster School came and spent a day with us last week.  Arranged by Rev David Harknet chaplin to the school and assisted by Dr Andrew Tomkins, they helped Ashley build a jetty leading out into the larger lake.

Each year The Beaminster School (Technology College) arranges an activity week, designed to allow the pupils to experience a range of pursuits they otherwise wouldn't and therefore increase their self confidence, motivation, self discipline, socila skills etc.

They worked very hard durning the day which started with driving the supports into the lake bed using a sleve hammer.  After a welcome lunch break it was back to work with Andrew Tompkins and Chris clearing weeds from the damb which runs between the two lakes and the rest completing the cross members for the jetty.  By 3pm when they had to depart it was allmost completed and Ashley and Jay finished it off the follwing day.

New Arrivals!

We had a new arrival... well several new arrivals actually, in the form of Tufted and Moorhen ducklings.  Little floating balls of dark fluff can be seen bobbing around on the lakes, with the parents keeping a watchful eye on them....oh so sweet!

Refurbishment

The Rose Room Suite refurbishment is now complete and has already been test driven by a couple of guests and been thoroughly approved of.
